Individual therapy focuses on the specific goals and needs of a client. It involves the exploration and uncovering of one’s cognitive and emotional thinking and how they connect to behavior patterns. This includes understanding and developing skills, establishing new behaviors, and optional ways of thinking that break the cycle of old solutions that have not worked. The ultimate goal is to achieve a happier, less stressful, and more fulfilling life.
Couples therapy focuses on both the individuals in the relationship and how that relationship functions. I am a therapist who will take sides with each individual to demonstrate how one person’s behavior affects the other person’s behavior. This is not about who is right or wrong; it’s about exploring the dynamic between the couple and understanding the impact it has on the relationship. We then discuss the steps you choose to take to move forward.
